| Method Description: | The aim of this method is to promote sensitivity to help children experiencing different kind of obstacles related to sensory impairments. Integrating this play to the different activities and playing it several times supports acceptance and development of social skills in group of children. The Castle: We stand close to our chosen pair! The Sun fell down on the horizon, it is nighttime in the wood, we must go back to the Castle where we'll sleep tonight. But a Wizard changed us, and one of the pair can not speak and the other doesn't see anything! I touch the child's shoulder, close his/her eyes and take the other's arms! He/she will drive(lead) him/her! And after all...here is the Castle!" Variation: Moving Castle. Kindergarten teacher select a pair from former play. The others are sitting around, they are at the wall of castle. "Imagine, that the Wizard changed not only children, but the Castle too! Listen: here is a shining, moving Castle! Drive(lead) your playmate to the Castle! But must listen! Anytime the Castle can change place and stand to another point!"(Unexpectedly change the standing point in the place.) After that some other child could try the play, the game playable with two or more, or all of pairs. |
| Inclusion Goal: | Direct goal is to support integration of children with special needs into the group. It is easier to get over real or percieved difficulties playing together. |
| Challenges: | In the beginning it can be difficult to motivate children but we can use rituals, habits to invite them in to the play e.g.: Let's see how fast we can stand in a circle? I count 1-2-3... |
| Success Indicators: | Children playing this kind of play develops in conscious sensation, they accept and understand each other more. Professionals can learn about children - their thoughts, feelings, reactions. |
