Games like language support and means of joint activity

  
Method Description: Simple card and board games (like UNO, MEMORY, ...) help a child with language difficulties to integrate into the group. The professionals preparing board games to choose from. Ensure you offer games that are at the level of all children who want to participate. Even allow children to choose the games. The game rules are explained for each. The routine of card games help children find their place and give everyone the opportunity to participate. The child with language difficulties learn to express themselves using and repeating phrases specific to the game in question. To "UNO" for example, the child has learned during a first go to name only the colours. Then he/she also learned the numbers. When memory games, all children call aloud the object that is represented on the map they returned. The child with language difficulties can participate in an activity with other children and are encouraged to talk (and learn pronounce expressions) and communicate.

Challenges: The language of the child concerned is difficult to understand, free games situations are complicated to handle for the children alone. These situations are often the source of conflict to misunderstanding - the presence of an adult is often required and the child seeks more contact with adults than with other children. However in the situation of more structured play, communication routines require a dialogue between children with and without language problems.
Success Indicators: The child speaks with other children without the intervention of the adult the child knows the new expressions
